Like a lot of people who live in the Bible Belt, I grew up in a Christian home. My parents are wonderful and love the Lord. They made sure I was in church and involved right from the beginning.
When I was young, I didn't really enjoy church. I thought it was boring and only for old people like my parents! I either slept or played Tic-Tac-Toe during the sermon.
When I was nine years old we had a guest speaker come to our church. Something made me ignore my friends beside me trying to play tictactoe and writing notes and I actually paid attention to what the speaker said.
I realized I was missing something in my life and that I needed it that night. I was missing Jesus.
From that point on I started to look differently at the Bible and to church. I knew a lot of the Bible stories they teach you when you were younger, but all my knowledge was head knowledge, not heart knowledge.
It wasn't till I was 14 did I realize that I needed to live my life for the Lord. I started spending quality time with Him by prayer and reading the Bible. I also found a group of friends that had the same desire and passion that I did. They helped me grow and learn all through high school.
The Lord is continuing to teach me things about Him and about me and my life. He is also putting people into my life to help me along the way. It's been fun so far and I can't wait to see what He has in store for me!!!
