Bristling with melodic hooks, the radio-friendly acoustic electric pop of Kenny McCafferty's Warm Waters offers listeners compelling songs of confession and devotion to Christ. Formerly the lead guitarist for Mastedon, Kenny demonstrates here that he's as adept at writing songs and singing as he is at guitar pyrotechnics.
We asked Kenny what drives his music.
I see believers striving to be more like Christ. I see the new emerging
generations of Christian worshippers in our youth. That’s encouraging and exciting. But also, motivated by events in an insecure world, many are awakening to the seriousness of the call of God. People are hurting and afraid. God given faith is all about trust in the Creator, who is in control of all things, which leads to the peace that surpasses all understanding.
Reaching out with the love of God and sharing the good news of Jesus Christ is making the world a better place. Yet on the other hand, the song “For the love of God” is a call for a compassionate change to believers. Many of us in our culture are much too omfortable, and as ambassadors for Christ, we need a passionate fire burning within, to inspire us to be a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is our spiritual service of worship.
(Rom. 12:2)
Recognize and renounce your sin. Hand it all over, give complete ownership of your life to the God who created you. (Luke 5:31) Then nurture your relationship with God, get to know Jesus. That is why God gave us the Holy Scriptures! Spend time with Him in the word. Talk with Him, (pray).
Experience His intimate love that gives us faith to conquer all obstacles, courage and comfort to carry on, and a passion to show others the same. And fellowship with the saints, be a part of a church, grow and learn with each other, worship and pray together, share life... “For where two or three have gathered together in My name, there I am in their midst.” (Matt.18:20)
1990 was the year God called me to completely lay my life down at His feet. I cast off my crown with a broken spirit. In submission to who I knew was the Truth, I confessed my need for a Savior. I prayed for forgiveness and the strength to be the father, husband and man of God that He wanted me to be.
(And I still do). It was the result of friends and family through out the years sharing, planting seeds and watering. I saw the change God made in other lives and knew that was where I wanted to be. As I read the bible, Gods word spoke to me in my heart. I am so thankful to be in His family now! We must let the word of Christ richly dwell within us, with all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another, with songs and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in our hearts to God! (Col.3:16)
